WASHINGTON, D.C., May 21, 2024 – The End Online Sexual Exploitation and Abuse of Children (OSEAC) Coalition, a group of organizations committed to advocacy to further policies that protect children online, supports survivor-led policy event hosted May 22 by PACT, the PACT Survivors’ Council and other nongovernmental organizations.

The event, titled “Rising Together: Survivor Engagement in Public Policy,” brings together survivor leaders and lived experience experts from around the world, including the End OSEAC Coalition Survivors’ Council, to promote collaboration and solidarity. The PACT Survivors’ Council will host a workshop on legislative advocacy for survivors and lived-experience experts, equipping them with the tools to speak confidently about the issues that matter to them. This will be followed by a trauma-informed training for congressional staff and a policy roundtable with members of Congress, their staff and other government representatives.

“The End OSEAC Survivors’ Council looks forward to attending this vital survivors and lived-experience engagement event and learning more about survivor engagement in public policy. We are grateful to PACT for the opportunity and inclusion to support other survivors in D.C., across the nation, and all over the globe. We look forward to working together with PACT’s Survivors’ Council.” – End OSEAC Survivors Council

“Rising Together: Survivor Engagement in Public Policy” will be organized into three parts:

  • Legislative advocacy building by survivors for survivors.
  • An educational event for staffers with workshops and panels led by survivors to train congressional staff on trauma-informed practices and give them the skills to collaborate with survivors of human trafficking.
  • A roundtable meeting with members of Congress, their staff, local government offices, and survivor leaders to discuss policy issues that are important to them.

As these critical conversations about online child safety continue, the End OSEAC Coalition urges Congress to move forward with the following to #ProtectKidsOnline: EARN IT Act (S.1207 / H.R.2732), KOSA (S.1409/H.R.7891), SHIELD Act (S.412 / H.R.3686), and STOP CSAM Act (S.1199 / H.R.7949).
